The Lowlands Ju Jitsu Association is based in Liverpool and has a rich history.

It all started way back in 1952 when Soke James Blundell 9th Dan became a trustee of a big mansion called the Lowlands.  It's an early Edwardian house set in its own beautiful grounds.   Even today this fine out building has not lost any of its charm or grace.   Soke Blundell used the whole of the basement area as a Dojo where many people would come along to learn, develop and train in Ju Jitsu.

Many other students from other clubs were to come to the Lowlands to seek knowledge from Soke Blundell, uniting with him, and so the Lowlands became the birthplace of the British Ju Jitsu Association GB.  He was the first person to introduce a syllabus and grading system from white to black belt.  Many other clubs today now use the same type of system.

Today the Lowlands is run by his son Prof. Kenneth James Blundell 7th Dan.

The Lowlands Ju Jitsu Association has links with the BJJA GB, and with the UNNJ (United Nations of Ju-Jitsu). We also have friendly connections with many clubs throughout Europe and USA.
